Issues & Priorities
I am running for Register of Probate with one clear goal: to ensure that the Berkshire Probate & Family Court operates as a fair, efficient, accessible, and compassionate public resource for everyone who depends on it.
After more than 30 years of practicing law and working directly with the Probate & Family Court, I understand both how the system works — and where it can work better.

Modernizing the Probate Office
The Probate Court should be efficient, well-organized, and easy to navigate. I am committed to modernizing court operations so the system works better for both the public and court staff.
For many people, the probate process feels confusing, outdated, and overwhelming. Court procedures and paperwork should not create unnecessary barriers for families who are already dealing with emotional and difficult situations.
I believe that the Register of Probate’s office should function as a professional, service-oriented operation that uses modern systems and clear processes to help cases move smoothly and accurately through the court.
With decades of experience working inside this system, I understand how the court operates day-to-day and where practical improvements can make a real difference.
How I Will Address It:
-
Improve internal procedures and workflow
-
Ensure documents are processed accurately and efficiently
-
Support smart, practical updates to office systems and processes
-
Focus on consistency and organization in court operations

Supporting Families During Difficult Times
People come to probate court during some of the most stressful moments of their lives. They deserve compassion, clarity, and respectful treatment.
Whether someone is dealing with the loss of a loved one, a family dispute, or a guardianship issue, probate court is rarely entered during easy times. The court should not add confusion or frustration to an already emotional experience.
I have spent my career working directly with families in these situations and understand both the legal and human sides of these cases. The way people are treated by the court matters — and it shapes their trust in the entire justice system.
The Register of Probate’s office should be a place where people are helped, guided, and treated with dignity and patience.
How I Will Address It:
-
Emphasize professionalism, respect, and compassion in public-facing services
-
Improve clarity around filing requirements and procedures
-
Ensure staff are focused on helping the public navigate the process
-
Promote a service-oriented culture within the office

Protecting Vulnerable Citizens
The Probate Court plays a critical role in protecting seniors, children, and individuals who need guardianship or legal protection.
Many of the most important responsibilities of the Probate & Family Court involve protecting people who cannot always protect themselves. These include cases involving guardianships, conservatorships, and estate administration.
I have extensive experience in family law, estate planning, estate administration, and court-appointed roles such as Guardian ad Litem and assigned counsel. This experience has given me a deep understanding of both the legal responsibilities and the human impact of these cases.
The court must operate carefully, consistently, and with the highest sense of responsibility when people’s well-being and futures are at stake.
How I Will Address It:
-
Ensure careful attention to procedural requirements in sensitive cases
-
Support strong coordination with judges and court-appointed professionals
-
Promote consistency and accountability in how cases are processed
-
Protect the dignity, rights, and interests of vulnerable individuals
Reducing Delays & Improving Access
Justice delayed is justice denied. The Probate Court must be accessible, understandable, and efficient.
Delays, confusion about paperwork, and procedural roadblocks can cause unnecessary stress and hardship for families. Too often, people struggle not because their case is complicated, but because the process is hard to understand.
Accessibility and ease of use are paramount to achieving fair and just outcomes in our legal system. People should be able to focus on the substance of their case — not get lost in the process.
I believe the Register of Probate’s office should serve as a bridge between the public and the court, helping people move their cases forward efficiently and correctly.
How I Will Address It:
-
Improve guidance on filing requirements and court procedures
-
Focus on efficient scheduling and case coordination
-
Reduce avoidable administrative delays
-
Promote clear, consistent processes for the public and legal professionals

Transparency & Community Trust
The court must earn and maintain the public’s trust through fairness, consistency, and transparency.
The Probate & Family Court serves the public, and the public deserves confidence that the system is fair, impartial, and well-run. Trust is built when people understand the process and feel they are being treated fairly and consistently.
I have spent my career working within this system and believe strongly that the court must always operate with integrity, professionalism, and accountability.
The Register of Probate plays a key role in shaping how the public experiences the court every day.
How I Will Address It:
-
Promote clear and consistent procedures
-
Ensure professional, respectful public service
-
Emphasize accuracy, accountability, and fairness in court operations
-
Strengthen public confidence in the Probate & Family Court
